New York Subway Bombing Suspect Indicted on Terrorism Charges

US: New York bomb attack suspect indicted on 6 counts

Akayed Ullah, 27, faces charges that include supporting a foreign terrorist organisation, using a weapon of mass destruction and carrying out a terrorist attack against a mass transit system, according to an indictment filed in federal court in Manhattan.

A grand jury indicted Akayed Ullah, who was accused of trying to blow up a suicide bomb in New York City in December, on terrorism charges.

He said other evidence includes Ullah's post-arrest statements, Federal Bureau of Investigation laboratory reports on fingerprints and other forensic evidence along with materials gathered during searches of locations where Ullah stored his laptop and other personal items.

Authorities said the 27-year-old from Bangladesh picked the location and time during the morning commute hoping to kill as many people as possible.

The suspect accused of attempting to bomb a NY subway transit way was indicted by a grand jury on six federal charges Wednesday stemming from the botched December 11 pipe bomb attack.

Surveillance video captured the moment when, according to investigators, Ullah set off what law enforcement agents described as a poorly constructed pipe bomb.

Addressing reporters today, Ullah's attorney Amy Gallicchio emphasized the importance of due process.

Two other Palestinians were injured and transferred to the Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah along with Abu Musaed. Then Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Ahed to personally convey his admiration.

The indictment was announced by the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY.

The Bangladeshi-born suspect was indicted Wednesday for allegedly detonating a faulty bomb last month, only seriously injuring himself.

Emotions ran high at the time of Ullah's arrest, which occurred in the middle of the holiday season and quickly fed the political machine.

U.S. District Judge Richard Sullivan has given the parties three months to share evidence before the next hearing on April 13.

Authorities said he taunted President Donald Trump on Facebook before the attack writing, "Trump you failed to protect your nation".

Meanwhile, Ullah will seek medical attention inside Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional, where attorneys say that he needs treatment to remove his stitches and replace his dressing.
