Rabada sworn at by Marsh, charged by ICC for Warner send-off

South Africa's AB de Villers right bats against Australia during the second day of the second test at St. George's Park in Port Elizabeth South Africa Saturday March 10

He added that he contested the charge on the Smith incident because he believed he had not made deliberate contact with the Australian captain's shoulder.

Much of that may be put down to the absence of Kagiso Rabada - South Africa's 11-wicket spearhead in the second Test has been banned for the remainder of the tour after racking up the demerit points in his altercation with Steve Smith.

Du Plessis said that cricket was only hurting itself by restricting how players could celebrate wickets.

Both players were docked 50 per cent of their match fees along with three ICC demerit points for their conduct.

"Our style of play is never wanting to swear at players and to trip them all the time", said du Plessis in the post-match press conference.

The hearing was held after play on day three, and match referee Jeff Crowe handed down his verdict on Monday evening (AEDT). However, with five charges to his name in the past 13 months - he has already served a one-Test ban in England after swearing at Ben Stokes - he admits he must be careful to ensure disciplinary issues don't continue to plague his career.

Kagiso Rabada has been banned for the last two Tests of SA's series against Australia‚ the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed.

Both men fell - Amla caught behind off Cummins for 27 and de Villiers caught at short-leg off Lyon - but Faf du Plessis and de Bruyn steered South Africa home with no further loss, a cover-driven boundary from de Bruyn confirming the six-wicket win.

Roger Federer defies logic with backhand slice
Kevin Anderson beat Nicholas Kicker 7-6 (1), 7-6 (3) while Tomas Berdych was defeated in straight sets by Chung Hyeon . The 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 6-1 loss resulted in a quick exit from a tournament the Serbian has won five times.

Rabada pleaded guilty to the second charge of provoking Australia batsman David Warner when he screamed in Warner's face after dismissing him in the second innings.

Rabada, who claimed a 10-wicket match haul for the fourth time in his career, soared past James Anderson to the top position and is now 15 points ahead of the English swing bowler at 902 points.

Players are banned for two matches when they accumulate eight demerit points‚ and Rabada went into the match with five. "I'm letting the team as well as myself down".

"We're just going too (far) on the sensitive side with everything", he said.

With Steyn and Rabada out, Australia will have the edge on a drier pitch, which leads me to think we may see the first true green seamer of the series. "I would have loved to be playing in the next game, especially coming off a performance like that". Four demerit points equals a one-Test or two ODIs/T20s, whichever comes first.

South Africa will hope Philander's impact will swell due to his return to Cape Town, his most successful Test venue.

"[I need to] see it as a big learning curve and not repeat the same mistake ..."

Meanwhile, Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has also been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for a level 1 offence under 2.1.4 of the Code which pertains to "using language or gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an global match".
